The universe is a pretty big place. If it’s just us, seems like an awful waste of space.
Carl Sagan came up with the idea of crafting two gold-plated disc designed to survive space for a billion years in the hopes an alien civilization might find it and play the message. The records were added to the spacecrafts Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. The disc includes the recorded sounds of a newborn baby, “hello” in 59 different languages and music from different periods in human history. Both Voyager spacecrafts are almost outside our solar system traveling at over 36,000 miles an hour.
